BBC Children in Need has today announced David Lloyd Clubs as their official Health and Wellness Partner and the official partner for the Pudsey Bearpee Challenge.
The Pudsey Bearpee Challenge, which kicks off on 16th October, is being championed by the charity’s ambassador Joe Wicks MBE, who is challenging the nation to undertake 1,000 Bearpees over the course of a month in the run up to the charity’s 2023 Appeal Show.
David Lloyd Clubs, which is the UK’s leading premium health and wellness group, is the official partner for the challenge and will be encouraging their 650,000+ members at their 102 clubs across the UK to get involved and help raise money for the charity. Throughout the month, there will be fundraising events taking place across all clubs which will culminate in a mass Bearpee moment taking place on Appeal Day, Friday 17th November.
BBC Children in Need’s ambassador, and former David Lloyd Clubs Lifeguard, Joe Wicks MBE is challenging people across the UK to get involved, and said: “When I worked at David Lloyd Clubs, the members were always so enthusiastic and ready to take on a challenge so I am sure that all the members will get behind the Pudsey Bearpees to help us make a difference when it is needed most.
1000 Bearpees does sound like a lot but I promise you can do it, whether you take on the seated Bearpees or the ultra-hard ones, together we can raise vital funds to continue to be there for the children and young people across the UK that need us most.”
Russell Barnes, CEO at David Lloyd Clubs said: “Families sit very much at the heart of David Lloyd Clubs, and so we are delighted to be supporting BBC Children in Need as their official Health and Wellness Partner. We are sure that our members and team will want to join the rest of the nation in getting behind the Bearpee challenge to raise much needed funds to support children and young people across the UK.”
Claire Hoyle, Director of Income, Marketing and Communications at BBC Children in Need said: “We are absolutely delighted to have David Lloyd Clubs on board as our official health and wellness partner and joining us for one of our biggest challenges yet – getting the nation doing Bearpees! We know this is a big challenge so we are urging people to get behind it and help us to raise as much money as possible that will make a difference to the lives of children and young people across the UK.”
To ensure the challenge is inclusive for supporters of all abilities, there are four different variations of the Bearpee that people can try, including a Joe Wicks ultra-hard one or a seated Bearpees. More details and instructions on all the variations and how you can get involved can be found on the BBC Children in Need website www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey.
