David Lloyd Shrewsbury's investment has begun

David Lloyd Clubs, Europe’s leading premium health and wellness group, has announced construction has started at David Lloyd Shrewsbury, previously The Shrewsbury Club, which they acquired late August 2024. The transformative £11 million investment programme is planned to be complete by Spring 2026, and will unveil a complete destination for health and wellness, for members of all ages.

The centrepiece of the newly transformed Club will be the 100+ station gym, which will house David Lloyd Clubs’ cutting-edge gym concept with an unrivalled array of best-in-class equipment.

Bespoke group exercise studios will host more than 100 classes each week including the David Lloyd Clubs’ exclusive Signature Classes Collection. High-energy workouts such as IGN1TE, Mind and Body classes including SPIRIT, Pilates and yoga, and exhilarating cycling classes RHYTHM and CYCLONE.

Other facilities which will be refurbished include new, heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, premium cushioned acrylic indoor tennis courts, and brand new padel courts.

In addition to the premium range of fitness facilities, the investment will include a luxurious indoor and outdoor Spa Retreat, David Lloyd Clubs signature wellness offering, boasting a range of distinctive experiences and rooms including a Himalayan Salt Sauna, Rainforest Experience Shower, revitalising citrus steam room, serene ice cave, plunge pool, and a hydrotherapy pool, all in a stunning space designed to aid relaxation and rejuvenation. Plus, a tranquil Spa Garden complete with a hydropool, plunge pool, sauna and loungers.

The stylish new Clubroom will offer the ideal setting to unwind with friends and family and grab a delicious bite to eat. A Business Lounge will provide the perfect alternative to working from home with a mixture of comfortable and high-level seating plus enclosed work booths. The Clubroom will also offer a family zone and indoor soft play area for children.

Family sits firmly at the heart of David Lloyd Clubs and following the investment, the Club will offer structured, progressive swim and tennis coaching and DL Kids after-school and holiday clubs. Plus, for little ones aged 8 years and over, the David Lloyd Clubs “Rebels” classes offer kids a chance to enhance their fitness and wellbeing, get active and spend quality time working-out alongside their parents and guardians. The Rebels classes include BLAZE, IGN1TE and Spirit with a combined offering of yoga, pilates, strength, agility, cardio and martial arts.
