David Lloyd Clubs is set to strengthen its partnership with Change Please having already raised over £2mn for the social enterprise.
The group is proud to be one of the founding supporters of Change Please since 2020 and its biggest corporate partner. The money raised by selling cups of Change Please’ award winning coffee in every club has helped 190 people access training programs lasting three to six months to help trainees build the skills and confidence to move into employment.
The group has also gifted Change Please two mobile coffee vans which have been used to sell coffee at cultural events across the UK.
Every cup of Change Please coffee sold contributes towards helping people experiencing homelessness and offers them a living wage job, housing, training, and onward employment opportunities
Cemal Ezel, founder of Change Please said: "We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support and commitment from David Lloyd Clubs in helping us empower those experiencing homelessness. Their generous contributions have been instrumental in providing life-changing opportunities and resources for the people we serve, offering them a chance to rebuild their lives and regain their dignity.”
As we continue to expand our partnership, we are excited to create an even greater impact together, transforming lives and communities across the UK. The success stories we have witnessed so far are a testament to the power of collaboration, and we are confident that with the continued support of David Lloyd Clubs, we can reach even more individuals in need, enabling them to lead fulfilling, independent lives and contribute to the society in meaningful ways."
In 2022 alone, David Lloyd Clubs donated £1.1 m for Change Please as part of the £1.7 million raised for charities and good causes locally and regionally.
The health and fitness group also raised £120k for the Ukraine war relief. This was thanks to the support of the David Lloyd Clubs team and members, via the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC), which delivers aid directly or through trusted partners to those in need. These efforts have gone towards supporting some of the 13 million people displaced by the conflict, providing a range of interventions including shelter, food, and psychological support to people who have had to leave everything behind.
As well as raising funds for larger causes, David Lloyd Clubs is also committed to enabling each of its individual clubs to support charities and good causes that have meaning for its members and team members in their local communities and nationally.
David Lloyd Clubs in Newbury undertook a 24-hour Sportathon including tennis, squash, cycling, triathlons and classes to raise £40k for the New Life special care babies unit. The Southern UK Region also helped to raise £45k through a range of fundraising activities, culminating in an art competition engaging members across the region.
Mia Manson-Bishop, Club Experience and Membership Director, said: " Our team and members work hard to have a positive impact on the communities inside and outside of our clubs, across the country and worldwide. I’m proud of the huge efforts made by all those involved to raise this amazing amount of money to support those in need.”
