Davd Lloyd Clubs announces major expansion and exciting London news

2nd June 2017

UK based David Lloyd Leisure (DLL), Europe’s leading, and fastest growing, health, fitness and racquets group, announced this week not only the successful completion of the purchase of *14 clubs from Virgin Active (VA), but also both the official opening of the third of its premium brand Harbour Clubs, in Kensington; and the exchange of contracts to acquire The Park Club,  one of West London’s most popular health and racquets clubs.

DLL CEO Glenn Earlam said today:   “Taken singly any of these announcements would be significant in the growth and expansion of DLL, however to be able to announce all three in a week underlines our ambitious commitment to growth and our vision for DLL to become the number one health and fitness brand in the whole of Europe.

“The completion of the VA deal represents a real milestone for DLL, bringing our club numbers to 109 and giving us even better geographical spread across the UK, and access to a much wider potential membership across the Group.   We are committed to investing and developing these clubs, providing great facilities for members and for the club teams joining DLL.

“The Kensington Harbour Club opening, which follows a £5.5 million transformation, is very exciting for us.  The Harbour brand represents premium quality and state of the art facilities, and Kensington, along with Harbour clubs in Notting Hill and Chelsea will be part of the exclusive Harbour ‘collection’, central to London since 1993.

“Our third announcement this week is the acquisition of The Park Club, which with its stunning location and extensive facilities, will receive a major investment of £8 million to ensure that it becomes West London’s leading health and racquets club.  The Park Club is the  perfect addition to our growing portfolio of clubs in London and other key locations.

“An organisation like DLL with such ambitious growth and development plans depends upon the skill and dedication of so many people working on projects from identifying and developing new sites to acquiring and refurbishing existing clubs and to training of club teams to deliver the skills and levels of service that DLL is known for.”
