David Lloyd Cambridge is set to become the region’s leading health, spa, fitness and racquets club, as it throws open its doors following a £3.5m investment programme. With the work complete, the club now offers unrivalled facilities to support members with their wellness needs, whether that’s fitness, relaxation or socialising with friends and family.
The centre piece of the redevelopment is the luxurious super-spa; known as the Spa Retreat. Set within a newly built wing of the club, it’s a world away from anywhere, with extensive state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor facilities. Heat, cool and relax are the three guiding principles of the expertly designed ‘spa journey’, scientifically designed to boost overall wellness and help relax, unwind and escape.
Heat rooms are infused with tailor-made aromatherapy blends to relax, with essential oils of lavender, mandarin, patchouli and ylang; to repair, with rosemary, peppermint, lavender, spearmint and olibanum; and to energise with peppermint, lemongrass, lemon and lime.
Crystal steam room
The pure Amethyst crystal has a powerful healing energy. Within this room, the heat therapy combined with our bespoke aromatherapy blend relaxes the body and soothes the mind.
Citrus steam room
Infused with our bespoke ‘energise’ aromatherapy blend to improve skin, support immune and digestive systems, fight infections and boost energy.
Himalayan salt sauna
Salt improves health and mood, reduces headaches and aids better sleep patterns. It can reduce mucus and inflammation in the lungs, improving respiratory conditions such as allergies, asthma and sinus congestion. The dry heat eases joint and muscle pain, boosts the immune system as well as helping to detox the body. By gently raising the heart rate, it aids circulation.
Immersing in cold water between heat treatments soothes tired muscles after exercising, improves the immune system and boosts circulation.
The indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pools gently massage and relax the body. There are two deep relaxation rooms: one with relaxation pods and one lavender sleep room with relaxation beds to help aid vital downtime and rejuvenation.
FAMILY SPLASH ZONE
In addition, the club now boasts an indoor heated children’s splash zone to keep the younger members happy. This ‘splashtastic’ new area has plenty of sprays, fountains, shooters and tipping buckets to keep children aged 2 – 12 entertained.
David Lloyd Cambridge General Manager, Matthew Lunn said, “We’re thrilled to unveil this incredible offering to members who use our facilities. The addition of both the seven room Spa Retreat with a garden plus the children’s heated splash zone, will really firmly position the club as not just a health and fitness destination but somewhere for all the family to spend the whole day.”
In addition to the new and refurbished facilities, David Lloyd Cambridge offers DL Kids facilities with over 30 hours of inclusive junior sessions each week, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, a restaurant and café bar, crèche and free members Wi-Fi.
