David Lloyd launches Broga - Yoga for men

Harlequins and international rugby star Tim Visser today launched David Lloyd Clubs' latest workout class - Broga - a new challenging and dynamic yoga class geared for men (where it's okay if you can't touch your toes) and for women looking to take their yoga workout up a gear.
Launching at eight* David Lloyd Clubs across the UK, Broga comprises a unique program of specific workouts focusing on either upper or lower body and is geared towards a ‘male sensibility’ - that's the ‘bro’ part but also easily accessible to men and women alike who are totally new to yoga but up for a challenge. Broga is for every ‘body’, from the beginner yogi to the professional athlete.
Created by former pro American football player and bodybuilder Matt Miller, the program as an extension of his own fitness practice, something a fitness-minded male or athlete could really find accessible and useful.
It combines the best core-strengthening, muscle-toning, cardio-working, stress-reducing, clarity-enhancing yoga postures with functional fitness exercises for an amazing workout. It increases flexibility, strengthen muscle groups to work in the correct alignment, reduce the risk of injury and work on cardio fitness all at the same time.
Tim Vissier said; “Yoga is not an exercise typically associated with rugby players. But to be top of your game, you need to not only have stamina and strength, but you also flexibility and focus. Broga is tough and challenging but also strengthens the core and helps prevent injury, so is a great complement to any athlete’s workout programme. I hope this great new class encourages more men to take up yoga.”
Elaine Denton, Group Health & Fitness Support Manager at David Lloyd Clubs said; “Yoga is great for both the body and the mind, and it is very on trend at the moment. But there is a perception that it is ‘just for girls’ and many of our male members shy away from trying it out. Broga is the ideal class for anyone looking to improve the flexibility and to tone up. It’s tough, fast-paced and perfect for men and women alike.”
