Introducing SPIRIT
Imagine a unique session that combines yoga and Pilates, set to uplifting music. That's SPIRIT, one of our range of Signature Classes, which you can only get at David Lloyd Clubs.
SPIRIT is the ideal yoga-Pilates hybrid for anyone looking for a satisfying workout with elements of meditation.
Challenge your core, lose yourself in the flow and find stillness. Our Edinburgh Shawfair studio offers a range of classes every week, such as Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin yoga. We have morning, lunchtime and evening sessions, and it's easy for members to book with the David Lloyd Clubs app.
The yoga classes at David Lloyd Edinburgh Shawfair are just the beginning. After you've left the mat, explore our first-rate gym, enjoy a few lengths in our heated indoor and outdoor pools or simply make time for more relaxation in our spa. You can get some work done over a delicious coffee in our Clubroom, and try a different type of exercise class. Find out exactly how to get the most out of your membership.
Hatha is a yoga practice that aims to bring balance to mind and body. It's designed to help you maintain overall health and well-being as you match breathing to postures.
A slower-paced session, you’ll hold postures for longer periods of time in Yin than other yoga classes. With a greater focus on meditation and reflection, you’ll leave feeling relaxed and revitalised.
Flow between a series of postures in this energising yoga class, which focuses on breathwork combined with seamless movement.
As well as our yoga sessions, we offer Pilates mat classes. There are similarities between these two low-impact workouts, but one of the key differences is that unlike most styles of yoga, in Pilates you sometimes use resistance equipment as well as bodyweight. Pilates focuses on strengthening the core to benefit the whole body, but there's usually some flexibility work, too.
We welcome members of all abilities and experience to our yoga classes.
Sessions are led by experienced yoga instructors who will patiently and expertly guide you through every bend and stretch. They can adapt postures and sequences to suit every level, so you'll feel comfortable no matter where you are in your yoga journey, even as a total beginner.
Yoga is a holistic form of exercise, which means it helps you take care of both your mind and your body. As well as fitness benefits - improved strength, flexibility and posture - research has also linked yoga to reduced stress and enhanced mood.
Beginning a regular yoga practice can support you in other types of exercise and in your daily life, whatever age you decide to start.
We'll provide everything you need in our yoga classes, such as mats and props, but feel free to bring your own mat if you prefer. Wear comfortable clothing, and it's a good idea to have a water bottle on hand if you're doing a dynamic yoga class. Think you might appreciate some extra grip? You can also bring your own non-slip grip socks and/or gloves.
Booking is stress-free with the David Lloyd Clubs app. Simple navigate to the timetable from the home screen and select the session you want.
