What is Padel?

Padel is a more intense version of tennis, played on smaller courts in a squash-like enclosure. The bats are lighter and the balls are softer than tennis and it's a great low-impact cardio workout.

Play it at your own pace. Even at its gentlest, it tests stamina, flexibility, and reaction times. As you practise and become more skilled, your game can become more challenging if you want it to.

The social side of Padel

Padel is more than a game, it’s a community. With friendly competitions, weekly match-play sessions and sociable events, it’s easy to meet new people and enjoy the game at every level.

Getting started with Padel

New to the game?

Come along to our classes and social clubs if you’re new to the game, looking to up your skills or to find new people to play against.

We divide these sessions up by experience level, so don’t worry if you’re a newbie. Besides, Padel is so easy to learn you’ll progress from beginner to expert in no time.

The basic rules of play

Think tennis meets squash. The lines on the court only affect scoring on the initial serve. Afterwards, two bounces anywhere on your side of the net means a point for your opponent.

Other than that, the scoring is identical to tennis. Use the walls on your side of court to your advantage by returning balls off the side or back. Two bounces on the opponent's side means a point for you. Expect fun, fast-paced games.

What you'll need to play

Padel racquets are quite different from the ones we know and love in tennis. Instead of strings, they're solid and have holes in. And the balls are smaller and lighter than tennis balls. That means that when racquet meets ball it can pick up significant speed.

You can borrow Padel racquets from us and buy balls, so it’s no sweat if you’ve forgotten anything or don’t want to invest in equipment just yet. Just ask at reception.
