David Lloyd Royal Berkshire on Nine Mile Ride, Bracknell is to receive a brand new luxury indoor and outdoor spa, as well as a new outdoor swimming pool as part of a significant £3.9m investment programme to firmly position the club as one of the country’s leading heath, spa, fitness and racquets clubs, offering unrivalled facilities to members achieve their health and fitness goals, as well as socialise and relaxing with friends and family.

The ambitious project by Europe’s leading health, sports and leisure group also sees the creation of of a dedicated group cycling studio, a mind and body studio, reformer pilates studio and brand new boutique-style studio housing unique high intensity program; Blaze. Each studio provides a full and varied timetable of activity for all ages and abilities. These upgrades ensure members are provided with the best-quality fitness environment to achieve their health, fitness or family time goals.

David Lloyd Leisure acquired the club in 2017 as has already invested £5m into modernising and upgrading the facilities at the club.

Set within the club, but a world away from anywhere, the luxury wet spa is set to be a key destination at the club for members to melt away stress. The area will feature hydro pools, saunas including a warm Finnish and a salt sauna, crystal and citrus steam rooms, feature showers, a plunge pool, heated beds and inviting comfy rooms. Members will be able to enjoy star-gazing from the outdoor hydro pool and relax in a hanging pod or by the fire pit, and enjoy the outdoor sauna among nature, whatever the season. Those seeking sanctuary in the luxury spa can explore the variety of areas to unwind for a post-workout reboot or a whole day of blissful relaxation.

A very exciting addition to the club is a brand new outdoor pool, one of very few in the area available for families looking to cool off and take a dip in the open air. And it’s not just fitness enthusiasts who will enjoy the space as it’s the perfect place to spend a summer’s day relaxing by the pool or in the new spa garden followed by a lunch al fresco on the brand new terrace, a real treat to escape a busy lifestyle. The outdoor tennis facilities are also receiving an upgrade, with acrylic cushioning on all five outdoor Tennis courts.

Fitness enthusiasts will be thrilled to add the latest big thing in fitness to their routine. Blaze has taken the nation by storm, and now David Lloyd Clubs’ most popular HIIT class is launching at David Lloyd Royal Berkshire. Set in its own purpose-built studio, Blaze combines cardio training with strength, and combat to give an all-round intense workout and is designed to significantly improve cardiovascular fitness and burning calories fast. Exclusive to DLL, Blaze gives an intense workout burning up to 1000 calories in a 55 minute class. It is a highly motivating class with the help of high energy soundtracks and lights to signal moving onto the next station. Participants will enjoy being part of a community brought together with the help of Myzone heart-rate monitoring which encourages those in the class to reach their fitness goals. For those who prefer a calmer environment, the new Mind and Body Studio promises a sanctuary to escape to. Classes such as Hatha yoga, Pilates and meditation will take place in this blissful space. Those wanting to try something more challenging can try Reformer Pilates in the new dedicated studio.

Members will be are able to enjoy a full and flexible timetable of both instructor-led and virtual classes in the new indoor cycling studio, including the exclusive class, SUF, creator of the highly acclaimed video-based programme that is followed by enthusiasts across the world, in-club to transform the indoor cycling experience for its members. SUF, a high intensity interval training program has been developed by world-class cycling coaches and is driven by synchronised soundtracks, creative story lines and officially licensed footage from the world's biggest races, including the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, the UCI World Championships and Paris-Roubaix.

The gym space is being expanded and the experience is being upgraded with the introduction of high-quality equipment and an inviting space. Carefully selected equipment includes a Synrgy 360 ‘playground’ frame which will provide up to 20 classes per week and the new high tech FIVE system; a new mobility training unit to take stretching and recovery to new levels. The gym features designated exercise zones catering for all needs: Functional Training Zone; Sports Performance Zone; Community Zone; Strength Zone; Cardio Zone; and Stretch Zone. The gym features a number of key partners such as Life Fitness, Octane Fitness, Watt Bike, Woodway Curve, among other best in class suppliers. Other improvements in the club include upgraded locker rooms, which members can enjoy using after a gym session.
