KEEPING YOU SAFE

The safety of our team and members is our number one priority, which is why we have introduced extensive cleaning protocols and social distancing practices in our Blaze Boutique studio which includes:

  • Reduced class occupancy to allow for social distancing.
  • No physical contact with your instructor or any other member before, during or after class.
  • You will need gloves to take part in the class and while the use of a MyZone belt is recommended it is not compulsory.
  • Thorough cleaning of equipment after every class.
  • Hand sanitiser station as you walk into the studio which everyone will be encouraged to use.
  • Reduced shakes menu which we encourage you to purchase via the app.
Booking and cancellation

Please only book onto a class if you are free from COVID-19 symptoms. If you book a class and you become unwell, please ensure you cancel your space. If this results in you losing a credit please contact us. When you arrive for your class and check in at reception, you will need to verbally confirm you are fit, well, healthy and COVID-19 symptom free.

Social distancing and sanitising stations

There is a hand sanitising station available as you walk into the studio, please use this every time you visit. We also have plenty of hand sanitiser available at reception and in the changing rooms so please use frequently.

Observe the social distancing signs throughout the studio and remain 2m apart from other members who are not part of your social bubble. Masks should be worn at all times whilst visiting us (unless you have a medical exemption), except when showering or during your Blaze workout.

Where do I find the studio?

Is there parking at the studio?

There are a few car parking options near to the studio. Snowhill station is less than 5 minute walk and is the closest. Secondly, the B4 carpark is approximately a 7 min walk (post code is B4 6DG). Lastly, the NCP Newhall street (B3 1SW) is a 10-15 minute walk to the studio. There is also limited on street parking. Charges are below and apply from 8am-6pm everyday:

  • Up to 1 hour £3.50
  • Up to 2 hours £6.00
  • Up to 3 hours £7.00
  • Up to 4 hours £9.00
What facilities does the studio have?

Our BLAZE Studio in Birmingham has male and female changing rooms with showers, lockers, hairdryers and GHD straighteners, as well as complimentary eco-friendly toiletries. There is a smoothie bar for a pre or post workout boost.

What are the opening hours?

Opening hours are:

  • 06.30am-8.30pm Mon-Thurs
  • 06.30am-7.00pm Fri
What is BLAZE and how long is the class?

The class is 45 minutes long including a warm up and warm down. You'll visit each of the three workout zones - cardio, strength and combat - three times. To find out more about the class, click here to take a look at our "Introduction to BLAZE" blog post.

Is there a BLAZE studio Membership?

You can’t become a member solely of our BLAZE studio, but can purchase pay-as-you-go credits of 1 or 5 classes. You can also become a David Lloyd Clubs member at one of the local clubs and if you join on a Platinum membership you can use the BLAZE Studio Birmingham for free as part of your membership (excluding Solihull South).

Can I do BLAZE if I haven’t worked out in a while?

Absolutely, yes! BLAZE is you vs you and due to it being intensity based around heart rate it means beginners and athletes can work out together in the same class. It's open to everyone.

Can I take part in a BLAZE if I have injuries?

If you have injuries we would recommend you talking to your GP or physio first as well as speaking to one of our trainers about your options. We can always modify the workouts to ensure they work for you.

Do you have childcare at the studio?

No, we do not.

Can my children use BLAZE?

Children aged 14-15 years can use BLAZE, if accompanied by an adult 18+. Those 16 years+ can use BLAZE, unaccompanied.

FIRST BLAZE CLASS
How are you making classes safe?

To maintain social distancing during your class we are limiting the spaces available to 15 people. We have introduced a new style of class that allows for sanitisation of equipment before you move to the next station.

Your instructor will guide you on what equipment will be used in the class. When your class is finished please leave used equipment in your lane so we can clean it thoroughly before we put it away. We have a strict cleaning procedure after each class to ensure that all equipment is fully sanitised before being used again.

How do I book my first BLAZE class?

To book classes simply download the BLAZE Studio mobile app from AppStore/Google Play and create an account. If you're a David Lloyd Platinum member you can book classes as part of your membership on the app. If you don’t have a Platinum membership or you’re not a member of David Lloyd Clubs, each class can be booked using one credit – available to purchase on our app.

Can I buy a single BLAZE session?

Yes. No commitment needed. If you do enjoy your first class, you can purchase packs of 5 credits for a discounted price.

Can I book my starting station in the studio?

Yes. You can maximise your workout by selecting your starting station, whether it be strength, combat or cardio.

How early should I arrive for my first class?

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the class start time for your BLAZE induction. You will be able to meet your instructor, familiarise yourself with the studio equipment and set up your MyZone heart rate monitoring belt.

What should I wear?

We would recommend comfortable workout kit and trainers. There is a small selection of clothing available to purchase from the studio.

How does it work when I arrive?

When you arrive at the studio, check in with our reception team at the front desk. They will show you to the studio and introduce you to the instructor.

Are there showers?

Showers and lockers will be available for members to use; however, we ask that when in the changing rooms you keep socially distant from others. Where possible make use of the vanity areas outside of the changing rooms to do your hair/makeup. Towels will still be available for each visit. There will be a limited range of toiletries available to use.

REFUELING
Do you have water, or should I bring my own?

Our water taps are available for you to use to fill your own bottle, so please ensure you remember to bring it with you as we’re unable to loan bottles at the moment.

Is there food and drinks available to buy?

We are offering a reduced shakes menu, but don’t worry we’ve kept your favourites! Where possible please pre-order your drinks via the app when you book your class with our new ‘Grab and Go’ facility.

BUYING CREDITS
How do I buy BLAZE credits?

You can buy individual sessions or multiple sessions via the BLAZE Studio mobile app.

Do credits expire?

Credits expire 3 months from date of purchase.

Can I get a refund?

No, refunds will not be given for any purchase via the BLAZE Studio mobile app.

BOOKING AND CANCELLATION RULES
How far in advance can I book?

Pay as you go users can book BLAZE from 8pm, 10 days in advance via the BLAZE Studio mobile app. David Lloyd Platinum members follow the same booking rules as they do in the David Lloyd clubs.

What’s the cancellation deadline?

If you can no longer attend a BLAZE class booking, you must cancel at least 12 hours before the start time. If not, pay as you go BLAZE studio users will forfeit one credit and David Lloyd Platinum members will receive a Late Cancellation against their account as per the in-club booking policy. Pay as you go users can cancel via the BLAZE Studio app and David Lloyd Platinum members can cancel via the David Lloyd Clubs app.

What happens if I don’t show up?

If you do not attend and fail to cancel with more than 12 hours’ notice, pay as you go users will forfeit one credit and David Lloyd Platinum members will receive a No Show against their account as per the in-club booking policy.

What happens if I’m late?

When a session has started, the doors close. You will forfeit your credit, so please don’t be late.
