ADIDAS ZONE CYCLING – THE REVOLUTIONARY INDOOR CYCLING CLASS INSPIRED BY SIR CHRIS HOY & VICTORIA PENDLETON
If you think you know about spinning classes, think again…
From January 2011, David Lloyd Leisure members can exclusively experience adidas Zone Cycling; the revolutionary indoor cycling class inspired by Sir Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton.
Immerse yourself in the experience of taking part in a workout session that makes you feel like you are in the company of Olympians, as your adidas Zone Cycling instructor takes you on an intense journey into The Velodrome, aiming for the highest place on the podium.
“adidas Zone Cycling brings together the rider, music and coach in perfect synergy. There is only one space on the podium an adidas Zone Cycling rider is interested in” says Sir Chris Hoy
adidas Zone Cycling is a freestyle class with a set structure of 3 blocks using a track cycling theme. Using adidas miCoach, your David Lloyd Leisure instructor will gradually increase your heart rate through The Ride In (warm-up) to prepare you for the main workout block – The Velodrome, where you will experience what it is like in your highest red zone, and feel like a winner!
In preparation for the Grand Final your instructor will use sensory elements of music and verbal cues to raise adrenaline levels and help participants feel the exhilaration of winning their ‘race’, further enhanced by Point of View video footage to fully immerse you into the experience.
Your success at The Velodrome will be followed with a cool down and recovery period, bringing the heart rate down gradually and incorporating stretches for the main muscle groups. adidas Zone Cycling elevates indoor cycling to a whole new level.
The class is suitable for ALL levels of fitness, from complete beginner to elite athletes! Drills will reveal elements from track cycling events such as Team Pursuit, Individual Pursuit, Points Race and Keirin. The drills used in adidas Zone Cycling at David Lloyd Leisure represent the kind of exercises Sir Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton do in their actual training sessions.
David Lloyd Leisure enjoys a reputation for offering its members the very latest developments in group exercise, and works closely with selected brands and products in the industry to create and deliver pioneering fitness classes.
You can take part in the exciting new class from January 2011, exclusively at all 76 David Lloyd clubs across the country. Rob Beale, Group Health & Fitness Manager at David Lloyd Leisure said, “We always look to provide quality, innovative classes that inspire our members. adidas Zone Cycling has been developed by our experts at David Lloyd Leisure alongside the very best names in British Cycling, taking you through the exciting visualisation of a professional athlete, competing at a major event, and making your stand on the podium.
“adidas Zone Cycling can work with perceived effort but is further enhanced by the inclusion of adidas miCoach as part of the workout session. The benefit to the participant is that they know that they are in the right zone, ensuring they get the most out of their adidas Zone Cycling workout.”
Key Benefits of adidas Zone Cycling at David Lloyd Leisure
Non Load Bearing: Takes the impact off of the knee and ankle joints and helps to strengthen muscles surrounding those joints. adidas Zone Cycling is non load bearing which helps prevent injury.
Cardio Vascular Workout: The adidas miCoach is great addition to aid your indoor cycling experience. It will help you know how much you are exerting yourself during a class. Increasing your heart rate for a sustained period of time (over half an hour) can have a huge number of benefits, including burning calories and building muscle. The heart can typically reach 80% of ‘maximum heart rate’ reasonably easy the class, even while your legs are not too exhausted.
Group Training: Training as a larger group will keep you motivated, by making it fun and inspiring. David Lloyd Leisure instructors are role models, inspired by Olympic Gold medalists.
