DAVID LLOYD LEISURE ANNOUNCE THE OPENING DATE OF ITS LUXURY HEALTH, SPORT AND LEISURE FACILITY IN EXETER
The much talked about David Lloyd Leisure club under construction at Sandy Park, next to the Exeter Chief’s rugby ground, will open to the public on December 13, 2010.
The stunning development will include: extensive indoor and outdoor tennis facilities; indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools; an air conditioned, beautifully designed and well equipped fitness area and a dedicated area for children’s activities.
With three indoor and 5 outdoor tennis courts, the David Lloyd Leisure club will offer families some of the best tennis facilities in the South West. The Tennis All Stars programme, accredited by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), will be available to children aged 3-11 and adults will also be offered instruction from a dedicated team of LTA qualified coaches. All social and competitive tennis needs will be catered for regardless of ability level.
The swimming facilities will be equally as impressive. Outside, set in a beautifully landscaped patio, will sit a 20 metre, heated swimming pool - the perfect place to relax and soak up some summer sunshine. Inside, a 25 metre, heated pool will offer a range of activities including aqua aerobics, family swim times and quiet adult swim sessions.
Parents looking for a quality swimming programme for their children should enquire about Swim All Stars. Developed by David Lloyd Leisure and fully endorsed by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA), the programme will be taught by a passionate team of qualified coaches and will cater for all abilities from absolute beginner to advanced stroke improvers.
A key feature in the club will be the 12,900sq ft gymnasium. The area will house the very latest fitness equipment, including an extensive range of assisted resistance and cardiovascular equipment, free weights and Power Plates, making it one of the best equipped gyms in Exeter.
Gym Instructors will be on hand at all times to provide guidance while a team of qualified personal trainers will offer a more bespoke service for those needing help to achieve specific, individual goals. All instructors will be qualified to a minimum Level 2 and will appear on the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs).
To complement the gym, a full programme of exercise classes will cater for a broad range of tastes and abilities. Yoga and Pilates will offer a holistic experience, while step, dance and aerobic classes will get the heart pumping and burn off unwanted calories. This month, Reebok and Cirque du Soleil have launched Jukari, Fit To Flex a totally new group exercise experience offered exclusively to David Lloyd Leisure members.
The family sits right at the heart of the David Lloyd Leisure brand and, as a result, children are always welcome. In addition to the structured, progressive coaching available via the All Stars programmes, children are also encouraged to get involved in DL Kids, the club’s activity programme for children. Sessions take place in a dedicated area and are scheduled to sync with the adult programme to ensure that the whole family are occupied for the duration of their visit.
In addition to exercise and sports facilities, the David Lloyd Leisure also offers a lounge area where members and their families can socialise with friends and enjoy a healthy meal or a Costa Coffee. A comprehensive menu, designed specifically for children, will also be available.
Greg Fanning, previously General Manager at the David Lloyd Leisure ‘Club of The Year’ in Eastbourne, has been appointed General Manager and will now be begin recruiting the rest of his team.
Greg says: “I am really excited about becoming part of the community here in Exeter. As well as introducing fantastic leisure facilities to the area, the club will also create more than 80 jobs, most of which will be filled by local people. We are currently recruiting for a number of roles and anybody interested in applying should visit the careers page on the David Lloyd Leisure website.”
This development is the first club opening for the David Lloyd Leisure Group, which merged premium club chains David Lloyd Leisure and Next Generation. £11m has been invested in the development, including £6.5m on construction and a further £1.5m on fitting out the premium health, sport and leisure destination.
