Body confidence

Five thousand women were surveyed throughout 20 cities in the UK and it was found that the average woman wishes that they were 19lbs (1.3 stone) slimmer and only 2% were happy with their body.  In an attempt to gain that slimmer body, 34% have tried slimming pills, 20% laxatives, 31% fasting, 37% exercise excessively and 56% skip meals.  In my opinion, this is due to the distorted body image of the womanly form conveyed by the media and results in lack of confidence and a reduction in the enjoyment of life; of the women surveyed, 71% believe that their life would greatly improve if they had a good body.

This opinion and, consequently, low self esteem of 98% of the female nation in the UK needs to change and you can start with you.  The question is, HOW?  Let me tell you how I have done it.

Take 10 minutes out of your day and ask yourself the following questions:

  1. What is the single most important goal for you to achieve?
  2. Why is this goal important to you?
  3. If you don't make changes and stay the way you are or regress, how would that affect your life and what consequences would occur?
  4. When you do successfully reach your goal, in what way will your life be different?
  5. What benefits of reaching your goal are most important to you?

Once you have taken the time to ask yourself these questions, you will have a deeper understanding of why you want to lose weight.  In turn, your motivation will increase and you may begin to plan ideas of how you are going to go about making the changes in your life to reach your goal.  One other side effect that I personally have experienced from this self-questionnaire is that I realise that I don't need to lose weight and be the skinniest girl alive to have a great life and do all the things that I want to do.

The consequence of this - I take more time for me, do things that I enjoy and make me happy, and I stop worrying about my weight and actually enjoy my body.  I am proud to say that now I am in that 2% of women who are happy with their body - I ask now that you take the time to question yourself and join me in helping that 2% to grow.

Body beautiful, strong and confident women are way hotter than the skinny, obsessed and tired women striving constantly to lose that extra pound.  LIFE, Be Fit For It!
