“Aim the beat at their feet” is the unstinting goal that epitomises the character of the Rhumboogie Orchestra, the most danceable swinging rhythm 'n' blues band in Scotland.
I am delighetd to say this superb band will be playing at the first of our 2010 BIG member party nights on Saturday 20th March. Tickets will be on sale at reception. Single adult tickets will cost £7.50 and £12.00 per couple.
The band was originally put together by Tenor sax player Deke McGee (Otis grand), Ted McKenna, ex Alex Harvey, Womack & Womack), and blues guitar virtuoso Alan Brown. With the powerhouse vocal of Violet Leighton and New Orleans infused piano of Jack Webb, next step was to add more horns…..enter baritone sax star Stewart Carson and the rich trumpet sound of Al Douglas. With the new addition of bass man Alan Thomson (ex John Martyn) and the final piece of this small band was complete.
The Jump / R&B styling’s that had grown out of the big band era are in the safe hands of these top musicians, so let the beat hit your feet and dance , dance all night long the sounds of the Rhumboogie Orchestra
Doors open 7.30pm. All tickets must be paid for in full at time of booking. Seating is unreserved. The maximum available is 250 so book early to avoid disappointment.
