EN GARDE! Team Family Gold Challenge kicks off in March with fencing.

Fencing is a great sport due to the fact that it works the mind just as much as the body. As well as the physical aspect of keeping fit, moving up and down the fencing piste you have to develop tactics, moves and skills; a fencer must be able to watch what is going on in a contest and react appropriately.

Fencing is a great way to stay fit without even realising it. Your concentration is on your weapon and the techniques you are learning, which distracts your mind from the physical side making it much more fun than exercising on a machine in the gym.

Right To Play, the charity partner for this initiative, was born out of an Olympic movement called Olympic Aid over 10 years ago and has transformed into a international charity that helps children develop through sport and play programmes. Find out more about Right To Play here.

Lose & Shape Up

We have recently launched our massively successful Lose & Shape Up course.

Thursday 23rd February at 6.30pm with Kirsty

Lose & Shape Up is a twelve-week course consisting of:

· Weekly weigh-in and body fat percentage readings

· Monthly body measurements

· Full registration and access to the Lose & Shape Up website and resources, including menu plans, recipe ideas and great online support

· one hour a week nutritional group session, covering a different topic each week

· one hour a week Personal Training session in your group

After this course you will be able to maintain your lifestyle for the long-term.

This is not a diet. It is a lifestyle change that will teach you how to get the body you want and keep it!

Book in for a free taster at the Club, every Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm.

Brand-new Aqua Zumba and CX Worx

Two brand-new classes as part of the brand-new timetable – started 6th February.

Bring the party to the pool in our brand-new class – Aqua Zumba!

The Aqua Zumba programme gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. Splash, stretch, twist, shout and laugh your way into a fun workout! Integrating the traditional styles of Zumba with the challenges of a water-based workout, it's cardio conditioning, body toning and – most of all – exhilarating beyond belief.

CX Worx is the brand new Les Mills programme designed to give your core a challenging workout. It features a mix of isolation exercises targeting specific muscles, whilst integrating moves that use two or more muscle groups together.

This thirty-minute workout is the ultimate way to get a tight and toned core. With dynamic training that homes in on your abs, glutes, back, obliques and ‘slings’ connecting the upper and lower body, this workout will leave you looking good and feeling strong.

Watch out for these two brand-new workouts as part of the just-launched timetable!

Updates to Our Gym Team

Meet our new team members.

We would like to welcome Rachel, our newest recruit, who has joined us up in the Gym. Rachel is available for Maximise Your Membership programmes and reviews. Come and check out her new early-morning Spin class, on Tuesdays at 6.45am, starting w/c 6th February.

We would also like to let you know that Tom is now a fully-qualified Personal Trainer and is available for Personal Training sessions! He is also available to book for programmes and reviews. In addition, Tom runs a fantastic Circuit class on Thursday evenings. Come and try it out to find out more!

Our Gym staff are always on hand to answer any questions you may have, as well as providing you with a programme and training specific to your needs.

DL Kids Sports Day

A fun-filled family afternoon, with races for all ages to participate in.

We will be holding a Family Fun Sports Day on Saturday 18th February from 1-3pm.

We will be holding races for all ages, including a Mini Tots race and a Parents race.

We will be on Courts One and Two from 1pm to organise the age groups and let the games commence!

We will be giving out certificates to all those who take part on the day.
