New Group Exercise Class – CXWORX

Coming soon to David Lloyd Narborough will be the exciting new CXWORX Group Exercise class. This short, sharp workout will inspire you to the next fitness level, whilst also strengthening and toning your body.

CXWORX is based on cutting-edge scientific research in a brand-new thirty-minute format, to help tighten and tone your core, whilst also improving functional strength and assisting in injury prevention.

It will help you to run faster, player hard and stand stronger, whilst burning on average 230 calories.

Pirates and Princesses Day

Come and dress up, and take part in making eye patches for pirates, crowns for princesses, and many more fun activities...

This event will be held on Saturday 26th May during Crèche opening times – 10am-12 noon.

For ages 12 weeks to 4 years.

There is no extra charge.

Crèche Event Days

Every month the Crèche will have an Event Day. We have planned fantastic days where children get to try different activities and experiences.

Circus Day was such a success, where the children learnt how to juggle and roll diablos, dressed up as clowns, and threw custard pies – which all the children enjoyed.

Now we plan to arrange an Event Day every month!

There are so many ideas. For example: Hawaiian Beach Party, Teddy Bears' Picnic, Olympic Games and, of course, the big visit from Santa Claus at Christmas.

More details will be announced closer to the time of these events, which will be held during Crèche opening times. There will be no extra charge.

The Event Days will be open for ages 12 weeks to 4 years.

A Habit-Changing Based Approach to Improving Fat Loss

Statistics show that over 90% of self-directed fat loss programmes fail. Not because fat-loss is actually that difficult, but because most people make it hard for themselves by trying to learn and do too much at once.

Nutrition for fat loss...who should you believe? In today's world there are a million different diets and "gurus", many promising to deliver spectacular results with little commitment. Low carb...high protein...GI diet...Atkins... Dukan – it can all be a little overwhelming.

My best advice is that simple and small changes in eating and exercise habits are the way forward. Try introducing one of the habits listed below every day for fourteen days. Only once you are happy and confident that you can continue to do this consistently, introduce another habit. It's that simple!

1. Exercise for thirty minutes
2. Take fish oil and a multivitamin at breakfast
3. Drink at least 1.5/2 litres of water per day
4. Eat at least four portions of vegetables every day
5. During each meal, stop eating when 80% full
6. Eat four or five smaller meals
7. Eat lean protein with every meal
8. Replace grains with greens

These habits should be a great start on the fat-loss process. But remember not to try and pile them all on at once. Pick one that you are confident you can stick to for fourteen days, then do it!

We have many activities available over the summer period for children. If the weather is good they can play in the outside pool while you relax.

Jubilee Members' Day

With an extra Bank Holiday this year, who needs a better excuse for a party? Particularly on a fine June weekend. Come and join us by the pool, lawn and outdoor courts for a summer day of fun to celebrate the best of being British – Sunday 3rd June.

This free event combines all the best parts of a pool party, summer barbecue, sports day and fete. Why not bring your family and friends to the Club with a half-price guest pass on Sunday 3rd June, and enjoy all the activities we have on.

We're still finalising the full itinerary but activities will include live music, inflatable fun, barbecue, ice cream factory, smoothie factory, disco, face painting, sports day, gym challenges, salsa dancing lessons, giant outdoor games, water challenges, Pimm's bar and our biggest outdoor class yet. If we can fit even more into the day we will.

The fun starts from midday and will go on into the evening. What better way is there to celebrate the Jubilee – without all the hassle of organising a street party. We will also be raising money on the day for Wishes for Kids. So even better: you can have fun and help us raise money for a fantastic cause.

Lastly, enter our Adult or Junior Best of British Fancy Dress competition to win some fantastic prizes. We look forward to enjoying what should be a great day. And don't worry if it pours with rain as we will hold the event indoors if necessary. Put the date in your diary today!

Summer Operating

As the summer weather approaches (albeit slowly) it's hard to plan your weekends without knowing what is going ahead at your Club. To help simplify things this year, we will be running a summer operating procedure. We want to maximise every good day.

Our Senior Manager on Duty will decide each day whether we are running indoor or outdoor activities. If the weather is poor things will run exactly as normal indoors.

If the weather is good, we will change our answerphone recording to the outdoor activities message, and you will know that fun in the sun is the order of the day.

Aqua Aerobics and other selected classes will be held outdoors.

Our pool bar and outdoor seating will be set up, with plastic glasses for drinks and poolside orders for food.

And if it is a Sunday, we will put on an outdoor barbecue from 12 noon-3pm, and have the giant inflatable Nessie out from 12 noon-1pm.

Hopefully you can join us for some wonderful summer days in the next few months!

Aegon Sucess for our Junior Tennis Players

The Aegon Junior Tennis teams got under way last week with great success. This year we have five teams entered: Mini Red (age 5-8), Mini Orange (8-9), and Under 12s, 14s and 16s.

We got off to the perfect start by beating Leicestershire Lawn Tennis Club in the Under 14s. We managed to draw and win in the Mini Orange. The Under 12s made a great start by beating Knighton Tennis Centre, with the Under 14s thrashing Ashby Castle 12-0!

Unfortunately the Under 16s lost 8-4, but they put up a great fight in that match and we were very unlucky.

A big thank you to all who are taking part in the Aegon, as it requires a lot of patience, travelling and late nights. To all the boys and girls who are competing at the highest level, a very well done. Being in Division One is not easy and there are no easy wins.

A special well done to Ravin Sanghera, who pulled off an amazing win in the Under 12s. After two hours and twenty minutes Ravin came off court needing a lie down, but told me it was worth it for the team!
