Adult Tennis and Golf Society

Well done to everyone who took part in the Club Championships recently. Also, we hope you all enjoyed the Tennis Extravaganza, Quiz and Auction.

Lots more events planned from the Tennis team in May...

1. The Golf Society – Saturday 5th May at 12 noon.

The Society will include 18 holes of golf, and bacon rolls at 12 noon. There will be prizes for the winner, lowest score, the longest drive and nearest the pin. All you need to do is sign up at Reception with payment of £25 cash.

You must have an official handicap or be able to strike a decent ball in order to play.

The first tee time is 12.57pm. Please be there for 12 noon for food and briefing! This is a mixed event and will be run using Stableford scoring off full handicaps.

2. Touch Tennis Tournament – Sunday 6th May from 12 noon-3pm. Entry fee: £5.

This is a mixed adult event and you must be over 14 to play. You must sign up at Reception to register your place.

Touch Tennis is an official sport and is played here at David Lloyd Cambridge on our badminton courts.

It’s played with maximum sized 21” racquets and Slazenger indoor foam balls. We will have racquets for you to use.

The rules include: only one serve; let serves do not count – you simply carry on.

When you toss the ball for a serve you have to hit it or you forfeit the point.

3. Monday 14th May, 7-9pm. The Fast Track social event is a great chance for all Fast Track Tennis players to experience their first competition and meet other Members who have participated in Fast Track Tennis courses during the past twelve months.

The event is in three parts :

· Part 2 - Doubles competition

· Part 3 - Buffet and drinks in the Clubroom after the event.

Some useful information on pool opening, and some important information regarding health and safety...

With the summer months approaching, may we take this opportunity to remind you all of our Outdoor Pool opening times. The pool is open from 6.30am to dusk. The exact closing time is at the discretion of the Manager on Duty, and depends on light and weather conditions. Children may use the pool at weekends between the hours of 10am and 6.30pm, and during school term time from 3.30-6.30 pm when lifeguards will be on duty.

As an additional safety feature, our Clubs have been fitted with new poolside doors with high-level handles, to restrict access to the poolside by unattended children.

Please may we remind you to observe the correct parking rules when visiting the Club. We have bays designated for the disabled and for parent and child, to enable ease of access for these people.
