Activity Enquiry ] Membership EnquiryStart Up - An introduction to the gym
for 14+ year oldsStart Up gives younger members all the tools to get started in the gym. Specifically designed for young adults; taking them through a series of three introductions that will enable them to come along to the gym and work out at their own pace and level.
Get confidentIncludes health and safety in the gym and key elements of a great workout. During this stage, we will be looking at General Health and Safety issues around the gym such as gym layout, fire exits, correct clothing; safety – posture during exercise, flexibility exercises to prepare for exercises ahead, our cardio equipment and how to get the best out of them.
Get controlFocuses on the upper body, technique and understanding the muscle groups In this session the member is shown how to prepare themselves for the workout ahead, learn how to use equipment specifically for the chest, back and shoulders. Learn how to put a programme together to achieve the results they want and why it is important to ensure the programme is balanced to achieve goals and prevent injury.
Get goingFocuses on the lower body and how to set goals to get results In this session the member is shown how to stabilise joints and burn calories through balance exercises. A variety of lower body exercises will be taught and the member will be shown how to set short term and long term goals to guarantee success!
Each session is for 60 minutes and after the third session, the teenager will be asked to complete a quiz to ensure they are ready to use the gym safely and effectively.
