Getting in the zone


Zone Cycling is a freestyle class with a set structure of 3 blocks using a track cycling theme.

Keeping it fresh


The instructors will release new drills and ideas for a range of track events, including endurance races; Team Pursuit, Individual Pursuit, Points Race and Madison to keep the programme fresh and up to date.

Zone 1: The ride in


Your instructor takes you through essential warm-up stages – ready for the main workout – The Velodrome.

Zone 2: The velodrome


You will build up and prepare for your ‘race’ - a high-energy workout which builds power, speed and endurance. The ‘races’ place different level of emphasis on different fitness elements:

  • Power; Spirit, Points Race, Keirin
  • Speed; Spirit, Team Race, Keirin
  • Endurance; Points Race, Team Pursuit
Activities include references to tactics used by Olympians and their drills.

Sprint Session


Different Zone Cycling sessions focus on specific training zones to target specific benefits. For example:

Sprint sessions focus on:
  • Explosive, all out, short bursts
  • High intensity effort
  • The Red Zone for enhanced cardiovascular capacity
  • Strength in glutes and quads

Zone 3: Bring it home


In preparation of the 'Grand Final' - the instructor will use sensor elements of music an verbal cues to raise adrenaline levels and help participants feel the exhilaration of winning their 'race'.
