The dance styles

Strictly David Lloyd - the dances

Level 1These are the lowest level of difficulty and is therefore ideal for beginners.

THE SOCIAL FOXTROTThe very epitome of sophistication, the Foxtrot is smooth, subtle and oh so stylish.

CHA CHA CHAPerenially popular, the Cha Cha Cha from Cuba is a great dance to show off with on the dance floor.

THE BASIC WALTZGlide into your partner’s arms and float across the dance floor to the Waltz. Could anything be more romantic?

THE RUMBASimilar to the Cha Cha Cha though slower and more sensual, the Rumba is often called the dance of love.

Level 2These dances are slightly more challenging in terms of speed and choreography.

BASIC QUICKSTEPLively and occasionally even energetic, the Quickstep picks up the pace of the basic Foxtrot rhythm.

THE SAMBAOriginating in Brazil, the Samba is hot, sexy and saucy. It calls for a certain ‘bounce’ so it can also be quite challenging!

THE TANGOPossibly the most challenging but potentially, the most rewarding dance of all. You know when you’ve been Tango’d.

JIVEIt’s fast and it’s fun – though we’ll take it slow to begin with. Clear the centre of the dance floor – jive bunnies coming through!
