British number one Andy Murray joined the next generation of tennis hot-shots at a Davis Cup Kid’s Training Camp. Ten lucky youngsters met Murray on court ahead of the Davis Cup in April at David Lloyd Leisure Raynes Park.

Andy works with David Lloyd Leisure to promote tennis as an all-year round game that keeps children and adults alike fit and active.

The children were dressed from head to toe in Union Jack colours and had their faces painted sporting the famous flag in support of Andy and the Davis Cup team.

Each child was a member of the popular David Lloyd Leisure ‘Tennis Allstars’ programme – developed in conjunction with Andy himself.  Over 3000 kids have joined the programme since it launched back in November 2006.

Andy Murray, talking at the launch at the David Lloyd Leisure Davis Cup camp, said:
“The Davis Cup is the first big British event in the tennis calendar and it is really special that David Lloyd Leisure is doing something for the kids today.  It is great to see the kids out on court having fun – this is what tennis is all about.

“It is so important to get more kids and families playing tennis for the future of the game.  Hopefully I can be a good role model for these children, and along with David Lloyd Leisure, encourage kids to play more tennis – not just during Wimbledon but all year round.  This is particularly important when developing talent to make our kids future champions.”
